Panel 1
Angle on the back of REN, she is holding a book bag over her shoulder and walking through a crowded high school hallway. There is a big mass of students ahead of her blocking the way forward through the hall. Some students have an arm or two raised in celebration. Just ahead of the crowd is another duel between students. The students’ swords clash together, magical swirls and sparks flash high above the crowd.
REN (Voiceover): Ugh.
Panel 2
Angle on Ren from the waist-up. Her face and gothic fashion sense can be clearly viewed here but this panel is tight and crowded. Students are partially obscuring her, some in front and others on either side of her, pushing up against her trying to witness the duel. Ren looks entirely disinterested.
REN (Voiceover): How irritating.
Panel 3
Angle on the sword fight going on. Students crowd around them in a big circle, cheering and shouting. Sparks and magics fly all around. Two SPIRITS hang over the shoulder of each of the sword fighters.
REN (Voiceover): It’s been like this all day…
REN (Voiceover): Ever since this morning. My classmates woke up today showing off their Spirit companions. Running around, calling themselves Conjurers and saying they’re all destined to fight in some Competition...
Panel 4
Ren turns away from the duel with a fancy spin, she pushes through students, breaking free from the crowd and running back in the direction she came from. Students look at her, offended at having been pushed.
REN (Voiceover): And I just want to go home!
RANDOM STUDENT #1: Watch it!
RANDOM STUDENT #2: Where ya headed, freak girl?
RANDOM STUDENT #3: Hey, it’s not Halloween yet, vampire girl!
